Redmi Note 8 Pro-Note 7 Pro Successor?

In India and Nepal, Redmi Note 7 Pro was the turning point for the company as it was able to make lots of sales. This time Xiaomi is back with a new device – Redmi Note 8 Pro. Also, have a look at specifications, features, and Redmi Note 8 Pro price in Nepal.

It is well known to everyone that Xiaomi’s Note series have been successor among the budget range powerful smartphones in recent years. The good thing about the company is that it manufactures great devices on an affordable price range.

Overview

Redmi Note 8 Pro is an absolutely gorgeous looking smartphone as it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The glass makes it feel premium and has good built quality as well. There are a power button and volume rockers on the right side of the device and a hybrid SIM tray on the left side. At the bottom, Type-C port for charging the device, a 3.5mm audio jack for audio output, a microphone and speaker grills.

At the top, there is a noise cancellation microphone and an IR blaster for controlling the device remotely. It weighs around 200 gm and has a dimension of 161.4 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm. The phone is available in 4 colours i.e. Blue, White, Black and Red.

Display and Design

The display on Redmi Note 8 Pro is not AMOLED but it has a 6.53 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and has 84.9% screen to body ratio. The screen has a good viewing angle and the colour production is also good. It has a resolution of 1080*2340 pixels and has ~395 PPI density. The screen is under a Gorilla Glass 5 so it should be able to withstand the drops from small heights. Since the LCD can go up-to 500 NITS of maximum brightness it should not be a problem to use the device in bright sunlight.

CPU and Performance

We are only getting Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10. Sooner or later Xiaomi might provide software updates with Android 10. As the main processor, a 12nm chipset Mediatek Helio G90T has been used which should be able to handle the performance of the device. The chipset is specialized for gaming so the gaming performance on this device should be fantastic.

It is an Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) processor and for the GPU Mali-G76 MC4 is used. The device is available in 2 variants of storage, one with 6GB RAM and 64 GB internal and another with 6GB RAM with 128 GB internal.

Camera

The camera on Redmi Note 8 Pro should be fine as it comprises of Quad camera setup. The cameras are aligned vertically and there is a 64 MP, f/1.9(wide), an 8 MP, f/2.2 (ultrawide), a 2 MP, f/2.4 (dedicated macro camera) and a 2 MP, f/2.4, depth sensor. The device is a camera beast with that 48 MP shooter.

At the front is a 20MP sensor with f/2.0 which should be able to snap good selfies.

Battery

The 4500 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery powers the device. The huge capacity battery should be able to power the phone for a whole day with normal usage. Also, for charging 18-watt charger is provided in the box which supports fast charging and can charge the device pretty quickly.

The phone is available in 4 colours i.e. Blue, White, Black and Red. It’s said to be launching soon in Nepali Market.

For Bluetooth, Bluetooth 5.0 has been provided for a wide range of connections which is a nice deal as well. The fingerprint scanner on this device is at the back below the camera and the placement at the back should be the best position.
