Apple launched another new MacBook Air 2020, this time featuring a new M1 chip. The earlier version of MacBook 2020 (in March) came with an Intel-core processor. Apple’s own Arm CPU has been designed specifically for Macs. Consequently, the M1 chip has been used in all three devices: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini.
With its new M1 chip the power is now in the Air. MacBook Air with an M1 chip is the thinnest and lightest yet extremely powerful processor. It is available at the same price as the March model.
MacBook Air 2020 Overview
M1 chip consists of an 8-core CPU that is 3.5x faster than the earlier MacBook Air. It can perform any professional-quality editing and action-packed gaming at this speed. Moreover, it has 5x faster graphics with either 7-core or 8-core GPU. It just doesn’t end there.
The M1 chipset also includes a 9x faster Neural Engine of 16-core equipped in the device for a greater Machine Learning experience. Hence, to unlock the potential of the M1 chip, macOS Big Sur has powerful updates for apps. Thanks to the amazing chipset you can now use your favorite iPhone and iPad apps directly on macOS Big Sur.
Battery and Memory
The 49.9 Watt-hour battery has an amazing battery life and the longest battery life on a MackBook Air ever. It can last up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 18 hours of video playback. Moreover, it also delivers performance in a fanless design, which means its silence is completely about hearing the Air. This fanless design is the biggest difference that separates MacBook Air from MacBook Pro.
Supporting great processor and battery, the M1 chip has also supported an unbelievable memory. MacBook Air 2020 consists of 8GB memory that is expandable up to 16GB of superfast memory. Additionally, it consists of 2x faster SSD and is expandable up to 2TB storage.
Retina display of the 13.3-inch screen provides lifelike colors for unreal beauty. With 2560 x 1600 screen resolution you get sharp and clear texts where colors are more vibrant than ever. Best of all, MacBook Air 2020 automatically adjusts the white point of the display to the color of the temperature of your environment. It attempts to go easy on the eyes, giving a natural viewing experience.
Experience 720p resolution for FaceTime and video conference in your new MacBook Air 2020. Besides, enjoy the three built-in microphones that will come in handy while making calls, asking Siri, or dictating notes.
After Magic Keyboards got introduced in MacBook 2019 models it is really giving a smooth touch experience for typing. The backlit keys with ambient light sensors promise to help you work in low-light settings.
Touch ID in MacBook Air 2020 makes your device secured. For any task involving access to your confidential inputs, your Touch ID fills in the information without sharing any card details.
