Apple has finally launched the fifth generation of the Apple Air iPad in Nepal. It comes with Apple’s M1 chip and hence is the most powerful iPad Air till now. Here, we will look at the specs, features, availability, and the official price of the Apple iPad Air 5 in Nepal.
Apple iPad Air 5 Overview
Display and Design
We can see the 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display in the iPad Air 5. It boasts 2360×1640-pixels resolutions alongside a Wide P3 color gamut. There is a True Tone display that has a fingerprint and scratch-resistant oleophobic coating. Further, the typical brightness measures 500nits, and the pixel density goes to 264. The display also supports a second-gen Apple pencil and Magic keyboard if you ever need to use any.
The iPad measures 6.1mm in thickness and weighs 461 grams for a Wi-Fi version and 462 for the 5G. The front is made up of glass while the back and frame are made of aluminum. The overall design is the same as its predecessor from the fourth generation. It is available in five color options – Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue.
M1 Chip
We had all the rumors of Apple Air 5 with an A15 Bionic chip but when it launched, it came with an M1 processor like in the iPad Pro. It is an octa-core chipset that shows better performance than the last year’s iPad Air by 60%. Previously, there was an A15 Bionic chip on the Apple iPad Air 4. Likewise, there is an 8-core graphics processor that gives 2x faster performance compared to other iPads to date.
As per memory, there is a unified RAM of 8GB that comes with either 64GB or 256GB internal storage. Over to the software front, the iPad boots on iOS 15.3.
Camera and Audio
Moving on, there is a 12MP lens on the rear panel with an f/1.8 aperture and 1.22-microns pixel capacity. It even supports the dual Pixel PDAF. It can record videos up to 4K resolution at 24/25/30/60 frames per second followed by 1080p at 25/30/60/120/240 frames per second alongside gyro-EIS.
Further, there is a 12MP front-facing ultrawide sensor with a 122-degree field of view and the support of the Centerstage feature. This is the upgrade to the 7MP snapper in the iPad Air 2020. To note, the center stage lens means it tracks you when you move around and keeps you in the frame. Moreover, the front camera can record up to 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.
For audio, there is a loudspeaker system with stereo speakers for crystal clear sound. It supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Atmos. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack for music.
Connectivity
As mentioned earlier, there are two configurations – 5G and Wi-Fi only. The former delivers peak speeds up to 3.5Gbps alongside Wi-Fi 6 which is fast forward. The USB Type-C interface has also increased speed around twice that last year’s iPad Air. The data transfer speeds here reach up to 10Gbps. In addition, there is Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS (A-GPS), and GLONASS for the 5G model only.
It also has a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 for wired connectivity that also works for DisplayPort and magnetic connector.
Rest of the specs
Fueling the iPad is a 28.6Whr battery cell with a 20W charging adapter. Apple includes the compatible charger in the box as well. The battery gives you a total video playback time of 10 hours. Further, there is a Touch ID integrated into the power button for biometrics. Other sensors include an accelerometer, gyro, compass, and barometer.

The Apple iPad Air 5 has already started its sale in Nepal at the starting price of NPR 99,000 for the 64GB Wi-Fi version. Likewise, the 256GB Wi-Fi version costs only NPR 1,19,000. However, the 5G version is not available in Nepal.
