ASUS ROG Ally; Everything We Know For Now!

The Taiwanese manufacturer has dropped a big surprise for the gaming community with the unexpected announcement of the Asus ROG Ally. Many refer to it as the first significant Steam Deck rival from ASUS.

Hence, despite the fact that not much official information has yet been disclosed, the expectations are high.

Asus ROG Ally Overview

The ROG Ally is a gaming handheld running on Windows 11. The ROG Ally appears to be employing an unique processor co-created by AMD. It includes a 1080p screen, dual fans, and access to Armoury Crate, an Asus ROG program that has previously been used to load drivers, manage RGB lighting, and more on other ASUS ROG products (like motherboards, GPUs, etc.).

The ROG Ally comes with a 7-inch, 1080p IPS screen. It has a peak brightness of 500 nits, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a 16:9 aspect ratio. ROG Ally comes with twice the refresh rate of the Steam Deck, which has a 400-nit, 800p/16:10 display and a 60hz refresh rate.

Official info about the battery life is not out yet. The company has claimed that it will be “extremely competitive”. It’s battery life could be similar to Steam Deck’s battery life, which varies from 90 to 3 hours depending on the game, might be approximately the same at 15 watts. Thus, not good but definitely “competitive.”

ASUS ROG Ally Specifications

Regarding the processor and graphics chip, the ROG Ally has featured AMD’s Little Phoenix processor. Many rumored CPUs might be used, but we believe an RDNA3 Zen4 AMD APU—a lower-wattage variant of the newly disclosed 7840—might be the final choice.
