Huawei launched Mate Xs 2 with Snapdragon 888 chipset

We have now received the successor to Huawei Mate Xs – a folding phone. It is named Mate Xs 2 with an outer folding display and has started the sale in the Chinese market. In this post, we will talk about the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the Huawei Mate Xs 2 in Nepal.

Huawei Mate Xs 2 Overview

The Mate Xs 2 brings a 7.8-inches Foldable OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, P3 color gamut, 10-bit color depth, and a 2480×2200-pixels resolution. It also has an 8:7.1 aspect ratio when unfolded. Likewise, when folded, the screen measures 6.5-inches with a 2480×1176-pixel resolution. There is also a 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to help reduce the discomfort you can experience because of the strobes on the eyes in low-brightness situations.

Although the foldable phone has the weak point where it folds, in this case, there is a four-layer polymer structure to make it stronger and more durable. Likewise, the screen has 4096-level pressure sensitivity which helps a great deal with the Huawei M-Pen 2s pen. The pen features an 82mAh battery that gives us 10 hours of usage time while we write non-stop. Further, if you choose to keep it on the standby mode, it has an endurance time of 40 days.

Although this is the second generation of the Mate Xs series, Xs 2 still resembles its predecessor when it comes to design. The body is made up of aviation-grade titanium alloy, ultra-light fiberglass, and ultra-light and ultra-strong steel. However, the back panel is microfiber built which results in low weight when compared to the Mate Xs. While the Mate Xs 2 weighs 255 grams, the other one weighed 300 grams.

When folded, the thickness of the handset measures 11.1mm, and when unfolded, it’s 5.4mm. To note, this is an outer folding phone – folds exteriorly unlike most foldable phones on the market these days. Huawei has even used a double-rotor eagle-wing hinge which will leave no seam when you use it unfolded.

Performance and Memory

The handset is driven by a 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. There is an octa-core (1×2.84GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80GHz Kryo 680) CPU that teams up with Adreno 660 for graphics. Further, the phone boots on HarmonyOS 2 which sports a new smart multi-window to accommodate the bigger screen. Huawei has also claimed that the top 300 apps in the AppGallery have been customized to fit the phone such that your experience will be smooth and enhanced.

For memory, you can have up to 12GB of RAM coupled with up to 512GB of internal storage. You can also expand the latter up to 256GB with Huawei’s Nano memory card. Moreover, to keep the device, cool during heavy usage, the device integrates a Graphene liquid cooling system.

Camera and Audio

Over to the optical front, there are three rear cameras led by a 50MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture that supports PDAF and Laser Auto Focus. Likewise, it is followed by an 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture, PDAF support, 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Beyond these two, there is a 13MP ultrawide shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view.

The front camera here is a 10.7MP ultra-wide-angled one that lies inside a punch-hole cutout above the screen. Both front and back cameras can record up to 4K videos at the rate of 30 frames per second. In addition, the back camera gets help from the Dual-LED dual-tone flash for better night shots.

Huawei Mate Xs 2 speaker sound

As per audio, there is a loudspeaker system on the device. However, it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack which is not surprising for a foldable phone these days.

Battery and Extras

Moving on, the phone features a non-removable 4,600mAh battery except for the 12/512GB memory option which comes with a 4,800mAh battery cell. However, both of them, come with the same 66W fast charging support. And both have the capability of reverse charging to charge your accessories. It can charge the phone from 0 to 90% in just 30 minutes.
