Body
The new Sony LinkBuds S sports a traditional closed-back design which is totally different from what we previously saw in its predecessor LinkBuds. The latter had a unique open-loop design which was comparatively easy on the eyes. Each earbud weighs 4.8 grams and is one of the lightest TWS in the present market with ANC and Hi-Res certification.
The phone case is a bit larger than that of the Apple AirPods Pro and is easy to carry around in your pocket. However, there is no pairing button on the case, and you’ll have to make it work with Sony’s Swift Pair approach which also provides you the service of quick pairing. Further, the earbuds are available in three color options – Black, White, and Beige (Desert Sand).
Features
Though the earbuds are lightweight, Sony has made no compromise on the features. There is a Hi-Res LDAC audio coding technology alongside the DSEE Extreme upscales compressed digital music files. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) mode is also followed by an ambient mode, automatic wear detection, Adaptive Sound Control, and Auto Play. Moreover, the buds are IPX4 rated against water resistivity.
Battery and Charging
Fueling the TWS is a battery with an endurance level of 6 hours which can be extended to 20 if you include the case. You will have 60 minutes of playtime in just 15 minutes of charging time due to the quick-charge feature. Furthermore, you will have a notification via the Sony Headphones Connect app when your charge drops below 30%.
