In February, Qualcomm published the list of phones equipped with Snapdragon 865 SoC. ZenFone 7 was mentioned on the list. However, the rumor has not provided any information on the specifications and features of the ZenFone 7. A new report shows that the Taiwanese manufacturer may soon launch the ZenFone 7 series.
As the successor to last year’s Asus Zenfone 6, the Zenfone 7 series takes the folding camera system a step further, this time with three cameras on the back. Asus has also worked on its flip-up camera mechanism, and the new Zenfone 7 series is equipped with a more powerful stepper motor than the Zenfone 6 with up to twice the torque and a new angle sensor that precisely controls the tilt angle. The Zenfone 7 series is a flagship like the classic Zenfone 7 that has a Snapdragon 865 chip, while the 7 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. A first look at the new phones suggests a well-known design that was uniquely implemented with the Asus Zenfone 6.
The ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro are expected to inherit the folding camera system introduced in the ZenFone 6. Last year’s model had a notch-less LCD screen and did not have a dedicated selfie camera. Instead, the rear camera could change to function as a front camera. Design and Display
Like many other smartphones, the Asus ZenFone 7 has a slightly curved glass back and a metal frame. The camera block seems a bit taller than most but is otherwise entirely normal.
That is until you flip the camera so that it rests on the body of the phone and can be used for taking selfies. This mechanism is believed to be the reason the block is more massive and probably also contributes to the phone’s sheer weight of 230g and the 165.1 x 77.3 x 9.6mm dimensions. There is also no water resistance rating, which is likely another sacrifice made by the camera. However, with such a camera, you also get a true full-screen design on the front with no notches or holes.
The display is a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2400 refresh rate and a 90 Hz refresh rate. Therefore, it is similar to OnePlus 8. Unlike this phone, there are no fingerprints scanner on the screen, but it is located on the power button on the right edge of the phone.

The Asus ZenFone 7 has a high-end Snapdragon 865 chipset (the same as the OnePlus 8 series and the US models of the Samsung Galaxy S20).

Camera
The camera is the Asus ZenFone 7’s strong suit, not so much for its basic specs as for the fact that it lifts up so you can use the main sensors for selfies as well. You can even rotate it between angles to get impressive views of things.
The setup includes a 64MP f / 1.8 prime lens, an 8MP f / 2.4 telephoto lens (with 3x optical zoom), and a 12MP f / 2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens. If you choose the Asus ZenFone 7 Pro, you get Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for the main and telephoto cameras. Otherwise, the settings are the same.
For videos, both phones can record in quality up to 8K at 30 frames per second.
Storage
The Asus ZenFone 7 has a single built-in 128GB UFS 3.1 storage option, which can be expanded via a microSD card (up to 2TB) via a dedicated slot. It has 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Battery
The phone also has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 30 W fast charging and runs on Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 and USB PD standards.
Interestingly, it also has more control over charging than most phones; for example, you can set it to charge slowly or only to a certain point below 100%, which can reduce long-term battery drain.
Connectivity
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS / A-GPS / NavIC, NFC, and USB Type-C ports. There are three microphones that are powered by Asus’ internal noise reduction technology and are paired with stereo speakers.

The report indicates that the ZenFone 7 will be available in two versions. It will include a standard model called ZenFone 7 and an advanced version called ZenFone 7 Pro. These phones may be available in black and white colour options.
