Huawei has recently launched Huawei Mate X3 in China. This phone is an addition to the foldable smartphone market, claiming to be “light as a wing, firm as a rock”.

Design And Dispaly
The new Huawei Mate X3 weighs just 239 grams, which is slightly more than the 233-gram Oppo Find N2 but 10% less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4.
The smartphone comes with a 7.85-inch internal display which is mounted on a teardrop-shaped hinge on the IPX8 water-resistant casing. The large screen is almost square. The display comes with a resolution of 2496 x 2224 when fully extended, while the 6.4-inch cover display maintains a taller 20.9:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2504 x 1080.The phone’s 7.85-inch LTPO foldable display is a bit smaller than the Mate X2’s 8-inch panel. Its resolution is 2496 x 2224 pixels, and its PPI is 426.
On the other hand, the 6.4′′ cover display doesn’t change. It has the same 426 PPI and a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels. For eye protection, Huawei has also included 1440 Hz PWM dimming on both panels.
Also, the Mate X3’s screen becomes the first foldable to receive two TÜV Rheinland certifications (Color Accuracy & Accurate Color Projection).
For display protection, the company has used “Kunlun” glass on the outer display. It’s the same glass used in the Mate 50 series.
Meanwhile, the multilayered inner display also boasts a layer of non-Newtonian fluid materials that offers 4X drop resistance. Both displays bag a five-star drop-resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS. It comes in five different color options; White, Black, Grey, Green and Pink.
Camera Features
The Mate X3 has a triple camera setup. It has a 50MP Sony IMX 766 main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with a 5X optical magnification feature on the back of the device.
With the exception of the ultrawide unit, the manufacturer has supplied OIS functionality for the primary and periscope lenses. The X-Mage coating and filters are available on all lenses. On the punch-hole sides of both the outer and inner displays.

4800mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging capabilities powers the smartphone. 50W wireless charging is also supported. Additionally, Collector’s Edition model is also available, which has a larger 5060mAh silicon carbon battery.
The Mate X3 has a variety of connectivity choices, including 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (L1 + L5 dual-band), NavIC, NFC, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port.
Performance
The Mate X3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Nevertheless, because to the United States of America’s ban on Huawei, this will only support the 4G network. The silicon uses TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process and has a 3.2GHz prime X2 core. It has up to 1TB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM.
The Mate X3 uses a cross-hinge cooling mechanism with a special flexible conductive layer to control thermals. With a 20% bigger heat dissipation surface than its predecessor, this aids in distributing the heat over the two portions of the screen. The phone also starts up with HarmonyOS 13.1, which is based on Android 13.
