Panasonic Lumix GH6; a new camera with Dual IS 2

Panasonic has finally unveiled the Lumix GH6 after a huge delay. It was teased earlier when GHS II was launched last year. The new Lumix GH6 has a good improvement over the sensors, image processing, and stabilization. The camera has already started its sale in the United States as well. Here, we will dig into the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the Panasonic Lumix GH6 in Nepal.

Sensor and Image Processing

Beginning with the image sensor, there is a new Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor with 25.2MP resolution. This is 25% more pixels than what was on its predecessor. Likewise, there is the new Venus Engine. It boasts twice the image processing capability which is a significant improvement. There are advancements in the detailed processing and noise reduction for images and videos.

Video Capability

Moving on, Lumix GH6 now comes with 14fps burst shooting with the focus locked (AFS) that uses a mechanical shutter and 75fps with the electronic one. In addition, this is the first time that a Lumix series camera supports internal recording in Apple ProRes 422 HQ.

Further, it can shoot 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p (unlimited) videos alongside 4:2:0 10-bit 4K120p and 4:2:2 10-bit 1080p 240p (HFR). It can even record 1080p 300fps videos in VFR – Variable Frame rate.

Connectivity

There are two card slots, an HDMI, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 in the Lumix GH6. Since the camera compliments with PowerDelivery, your experience will be more enhanced. Over to the wireless connectivity options, there is dual-band Wi-Fi, Lumix Sync, and Lumix Tether. 

Rest of the specs

Moving on, the camera ships with an in-built fan to keep the temperature checked. This comes in handy when you have long recording sessions than usual. As mentioned earlier, there is Dual IS 2 image stabilization that blusters 7.5 stops compensation. It uses an improved algorithm alongside a 5-axis gyroscope. And with the additional full V-Log/V-Gamut, the camera has gone to a whole different level. Before this, the gamut was limited to some professional video cameras only.

Panasonic Lumix GH6 Price in Nepal

In the United States, you can buy the camera from the third week of March at the price of USD 2,199. This price is only for the body and you must buy the kit separately. If it ever makes its way to Nepal, we estimate the Panasonic Lumix GH6 price to be around NPR 3,50,000.
