Motorola Edge 30 Pro: The international variant of Flagship Edge Plus 2022

Motorola has finally unveiled the Edge 30 Pro after tons of leaks and rumors. This is a flagship Motorola phone with the same processor as other flagships from the year 2022 – Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The device succeeds last year’s Edge 20 Pro. In the United States, this is named Edge Plus 2022. In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro in Nepal.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro Overview

Design and Display

Motorola Edge 30 Pro has a similar design to the rumored phone Edge 30 Ultra. There is a rectangle-circular camera island that holds the optical parts of the phone. The body weighs only 196 grams and measures 8.6mm in thickness. The frame of the phone is plastic made whereas the front and back have Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The overall design here is water-repellent.

The OLED display here checks out to be 6.7-inches with a 144Hz refresh rate and nearly one billion colors. It supports HDR10+ contents alongside an 87.4% screen-to-body ratio and 20:9 aspect ratio. Likewise, there is a 393-pixel density to enhance the screen. It is available in two color variations – Cosmos Blue and Stardust White.

Performance and Memory

As mentioned earlier, the device integrates the 2022 flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This chipset is based on a 4nm fabrication process and has an octa-core (1×3.00 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3×2.50 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×1.80 GHz Cortex-A510) CPU. Previously, its predecessor had Snapdragon 870 5G. Furthermore, there is Adreno 730 handling the graphics.

Over to the software front, Edge 30 Pro boots on the latest version of Android 12. There are two RAM configurations for the device – 8GB and 12GB. They are teamed up with either 128GB or 256GB or 512GB internal storage of UFS 3.1. This is a limited memory for you since you can not expand it in any way.

Camera and Audio

As per the optics, there is a triple camera setup on the island before. The leader on the setup is a 108MP lens with 0.7-microns pixel capacity and PDAF support. It also has a 16MP ultrawide sensor with a 119-degree field of view. Completing the setup is an 8MP periscope telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The module also holds a dual-LED flash for better night shots. The rear camera setup here can shoot up to 8K videos at 24 frames per second with gyro-EIS.

For selfies, Edge 30 Pro has a 32MP front-facing camera inside the punch-hole cutout above the screen. The video resolution here limits up to 4K at 30 frames per second. Furthermore, there is a loudspeaker system for audio but no 3.5mm headphone jack for music and calls.

Battery and Extras

Under the hood, the device gets its juice from a medium Li-Po 4,800mAh battery with 68W fast charging support. Motorola claims to charge 0-100% in just 35 minutes. However, the phone ships with only a 30W fast charger in the North American market. The phone also supports 15W fast wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. The phone charges via USB Type-C 3.1 which also works as DisplayPort 1.4.

Getting towards biometrics, there is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a software-based face unlock. Other sensors here are an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer. Lastly, there is Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO), and NFC for wireless connectivity options.
