Samsung Galaxy A30 Review

Time and again Samsung has proven itself as the best in the mobile market with its stunning design, gorgeous display, advanced camera and fast processing speed.

This time Samsung is back with a new mid-range phone namely Samsung galaxy A30. Considering the needs of the people and the latest tech, this newly designed phone is brought by Samsung. The phone was made available in Nepal from March 19, 2019.

The handset has a glossy back that is not glass but looks like glass with premium feel in hand. The front side of the phone has a front camera on its top, a 6.4 inch U type notch screen is seen like in Essential phone. Similarly, on the back side of the phone, we can see the vertical alignment of the dual camera and a fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. On the right side of the phone, there are power and volume buttons. This phone weighs 165 g with equal weight distribution. The phone is made available in 3 different colors: Black, Blue, and Red. Also, a plastic SIM tray is equipped for dual SIM support along with an external storage slot for micro SD. Overall; this phone has a strong build up with 7.7mm thickness.

Display

One of the best things about Samsung smartphones is that it never compromise in terms of display. Samsung A30 comprises of a 6.4-inch screen with edge to edge super AMOLED infinity U display with ~403 PPI density. It’s a full HD+ screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. For a budget phone like this, this display is a deal breaker (turning point) for the gaming experience, watching videos and surfing internet. The bottom bezel is slightly big but without the physical key, it is easy to operate. In addition, the screen has a U type notch display which is more pleasing to eyes. It has the feature of always on display for viewing time and date and for notification.

Processor

This phone is powered by Exynos 7904 (14nm) chipset, octa-core CPU and Mali-G71 MP2 as GPU which can perfectly run games and perform daily tasks easily without slowing down the phone. For the base model, 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage is provided. For the higher model, 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage is provided. The storage can be extended up to 512GB from a dedicated slot. With a powerful hardware like this, playing games like PUBG or any other games are smooth. This phone runs on software Samsung One UI which is based on latest android software i.e. Android 9.0(Pie). The new UI is easy to use and more user-friendly.

Camera

Most of the people are concerned about a nice camera on smartphones because it simplifies things. In total, A30 comprises of 3 cameras, one on the front and two on the back as the main camera. The front camera is a 16MP sensor with aperture 2.2 which is perfect for taking great selfies. The dual camera setup on the back of the phone is of 16MP sensor for the main camera with f/1.7 and 5MP sensor (ultra wide) with f/2.2 which is capable of taking portraits, panoramic shots & wide angle shots. Both the cameras can record videos in 1080p@30fps.

Security

For security, the hand-set is provided with a fingerprint sensor which is fast and accurate and works most of the time. Also the front camera provides face unlock facility. As soon as front camera detects the registered face it unlocks the device quickly.

Extra

The phone also supports GSM/HSPA/LTE. Considering the latest tech, Bluetooth 5.0 and Type C connector is provided on this phone. It comprises of non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery which is enough for a full day use with a fully charged phone. The longevity of battery may vary on the usage pattern and charging option is provided with 15 watt wired fast charging. Unlike other phones like IPhone X, Google Pixel 3, One plus 6, this phone consists of 3.5mm jack for headphones. Sound output is loud and clear but not the loudest in the market. This device has the option of Samsung pay mini for smart payment system.

Above all, this is a budget-friendly device with cool features. With all the techs provided, the device is priced at RS. 28,490 (Original price during launch) for 4GB ram varient which is the only variant available in Nepal and recently it got a price cut of Rs. 1,500. It’s now available for Rs.26,990
