Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 goes official

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S8 series a few weeks earlier. There are three flagship tablets on series among which Galaxy S8 Ultra is a new top-of-the-line tablet. In this post, we will talk about the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series in Nepal.

Display and Design

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ sports an 11.0 and 12.4-inches Super AMOLED display respectively. There is a WQXGA+ resolution of 2800×1752-pixels in S8+ whereas the S8 has a WQXGA resolution of 2560×1600-pixels. They boast a refresh rate of 120Hz alongside an aspect ratio of 16:10. The screen here is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Galaxy S8 weighs 503 grams (Wi-Fi) and 507 grams (5G) while both embedding the dimension of 253.8×165.3×6.3mm. Likewise, the S8+ measures 285×185×5.7mm in dimension and weighs 567 grams (Wi-Fi) and 572 grams (5G). There is a metal unibody design accompanied by an armor aluminum frame. The body is 30% more scratch-resistant and 40% less prone to bending in comparison to last year’s Galaxy Tab S7. Above the screen, there is a notch that holds the dual front-facing camera.

There are three color options available for the tablet – Graphite, Silver, and Pink Gold. The box also ships with an S Pen with 6.2ms latency, Bluetooth integration, accelerometer, and gyro.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, the Tab S8 series is powered up by the flagship Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is a 4nm chipset that integrates an octa-core (1×3.00GHz Cortex-X2 & 3V2.50GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×1.80GHz Cortex-A510) CPU. Likewise, the graphics depart is handled by Adreno 730 processor.

As per memory, there are three different configurations available for the device – 8/128GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB. You can also expand the internal storage up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. At the software front, Tab S8 Ultra boots on Android 12 on top of Samsung’s own One UI 4.1.

Camera and Audio

As per optics, there is a dual-camera setup on the rear panel of the tablet. It has a 13MP primary lens with an f/2.0 aperture, 1.0-microns pixel capacity, and AF support. The secondary camera is a 6MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera module also holds a LED flash for better night shots.

Upfront, there is a dual-camera setup with two 12MP shooters. The first one has an f/2.2 aperture and is 26mm wide while the second one is an ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. They have auto-framing technology which is like Apple’s center-stage. Both front and back cameras can record 4K videos at the rate of 30/60 frames per second. Over to the audio, there is a quad-speaker array with Dolby Atmos tuned by AKG.

Fueling the S8 and S8+ are 8,000mAh and 10,090mAh batteries with 45W fast charging support respectively. Samsung claims to charge 0-100% in just 80 minutes to the S8 and 82 minutes to the S8+. Since it supports reverse charging, you can use it as a power bank for a selected list of Galaxy smartphones.

For biometrics, there is an optical under-display fingerprint sensor and a software-based face unlock in the Galaxy Tab S8 and the S8+ limits to the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Other sensors include an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. It also supports Wireless Samsung deX.

Moving on, there is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connectivity. You can also choose the cellular variant for grabs. It also has GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO).
