The ZV-1F can record video in 4K at 30 frames per second and in 1080p at 120 frames per second. Selfie-style films can also be improved with the help of the device’s Background Defocus and Face Priority Auto Exposure (AE) features.

In addition to capturing 60x hyperlapse in HD, users may take advantage of additional Sony camera technologies including Eye AF, SteadyShot, and S&Q. Sony’s Shot Mark app lets you transfer videos under 60 seconds in length straight to a mobile device.

The Sony ZV-E1’s full-frame 12MP CMOS sensor stands out. This is the first ZV camera with a full-frame lens, replacing the 1.5X crop lens of the ZV E10. Full-frame lenses have a bigger FOV, stronger dynamic range, and shallower depth of focus than crop sensors. On 1.5X crop sensors, a 24mm lens produces 36mm pictures. With the same lens, full-frame sensors produce 24mm.

The ZV-E1’s 12MP full-frame sensor reads pixels without binning in all settings. Backside-illuminated (BSI) technology improves low-light images on this 35-mm CMOS image sensor. It can record 4K 60p footage, but Sony hopes to enhance it to 120fps. The ZV-E1 also records 10-bit 4:2:2 footage for color grading. Sony’s BIONZ XR engine enhances the lens’s color reproduction, gradation rendering, and low-noise capabilities.

5-axis in-body stabilization makes the ZV-E1 intriguing. Sony offers “Active” optical and “Dynamic Active” modes for use. The first reduces walking tremors. With some cropping, the latter one smooths quick movements. The vlogging camera uses A7R Real-time Recognition AF. This lets the lens detect persons, animals, birds, insects, cars/trains, and airplanes.

The ZV-E1 also has an AI-based auto-framing mode for solo vlogging. Multiple facial recognition adjusts the aperture to concentrate two people. It can capture full images for HDMI output and cropped images for internal memory cards.
