Xiaomi has finally launched the 12S series in the Chinese market. There are two standard models – Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro alongside an Ultra one. In this post, we will dig into the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra in Nepal.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra Overview

1-inch type Sony IMX989 Sensor

Beginning with the most interesting feature of the phone – there is Sony’s 1-inch sensor. This is the first time we saw the Sony IMX989 flagship sensor in a smartphone. This was made with a collaboration between Xiaomi and Sony with a development cost of around USD 15 million. It’s specially designed for smartphones.

We saw a 1-inch camera in the Xperia PRO – I before but it was Sony’s RX100 VII compact camera. They are large sensors compared to what we generally see in general smartphones to date.

Backed by Leica

Xiaomi has also collaborated with Leica for the optical imaging software for the Summicorn 8P lens that follows the 1-inch sensor. It shows some features like eliminating flare, chromatic aberration, and ghosting. They even bring an IR filter and an anti-glare coating with each lens.

Likewise, there is a new feature with two photographic styles called “Leica Authentic Look” and “Leica Vibrant Look” with natural-looking images to focus on light and shadow contrast adding depth to the photos.

Further, there is a triple camera setup at the rear panel – a 50MP wide-angle primary sensor and two 48MP Sony IMX586 ½.0-inch sensors. These two divides out as a 13mm ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture and a telephoto camera with 120mm with f/4.1 aperture.

Display and Design

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra sports a 6.73-inch E5 AMOLED screen with a 3200×1440-pixels resolution. It boasts 1B colors, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ content, 1000nits HBM brightness level, and 1500nits of a peak. The refresh rate is flexible with the help of AdaptiveSync Pro. Then, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the screen.

It weighs 225 grams and measures 9.1mm in thickness. The body is made up of eco-leather at the back and then the whole setup is embedded in an aluminum frame. Likewise, the camera bump is covered by a 23K gold ring. It is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistivity. There are two color options on the device – Black and Dark Green.

Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. It is a 4nm chipset with a 10% better CPU and 10% faster GPU, and 20% higher AI performance. Then, its teams with 8GB and 12GB of RAM accompanied by either 256 or 512GB of internal storage.

Moreover, the device ships with a 3D cooling system to improve its efficiency by 100%. In addition, there is Xiaomi Surge G1 and Surge P1 chips to boost your battery performance.

Battery and Charging

Fueling the device is a 4,860mAh battery with 67W fast charging. You can charge your phone from 0 to 100% in just 41 minutes with it. It also supports 50W fast wireless charging that takes 52 minutes for a full charge. In addition, it also supports 10W reverse wireless charging.
