Asus has launched a new smartphone 8z on the Indian market. The phone was going on with the hashtag #BigOnPerformanceCompactInSize alongside some people in the campaign like Milind Soman and Joseph Radhik. In this post, we will talk about everything that we know about the device. We will also discuss the expected price of the Asus 8z in Nepal.
Asus 8z Overview
Design and Display
For those who are not a fan of big displays, you are on luck this time. Asus 8z flaunts a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. There is a peak brightness of 1100nits and HBM brightness of 700nits. There is a standard refresh rate of 120Hz and the phone supports HDR10+ contents as well. Above the screen, there lies a punch-hole cutout that holds the front-facing camera. The display here gets its protection from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The back panel is made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while the frame is made up of metal; to be specific – Aluminum. It is IP68 rated for water and dust resistivity which means it can survive 1.5m water for 30 minutes in approximation. The body weighs 169 grams and measures 8.9mm in thickness. The handset is available in two different color variations – Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver.
Performance and Memory
Though 8z still runs on Android 11, it is upgradable to Android 12. The user interface here is seen to be ZenUI. This system is powered up with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset that is based on a 5nm fabrication process. It comes with Adreno 660 graphics processor teamed up with an octa-core CPU with Kryo 680 cores clocked at the maximum speed of 2.84GHz.
There might four-five memory configurations on the device. We can have from 6 to 16GB RAM coupled with 128 to 256GB of internal storage of UFS 3.1. Unfortunately, you can not expand the latter because there is no slot for a microSD card.
Camera and Audio
Over to the optics, there is a dual-camera setup which is led by a 64MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, 0.8-microns pixel capacity, and OIS support. It is accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide lens of f/2.2 aperture and a 112-degree field of view. Also, the latter has the support of dual pixel PDAF. They can record videos up to 8K resolution at 24fps continued by 4K@30/60/120fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps, and finally 720p@480fps. It also has gyro-EIS for more stability.
Moving on, there is a 12MP selfie snapper inside the punch-hole cutout above the screen of the phone. It also has dual pixel PDAF support with an f/2.5 aperture and 1.22-microns pixel capacity. Here, the video is limited to 4K at 30 frames per second and 1080p at 30/60. As per audio, there are stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound that tunes out 32-bit/384kHz audio. You can also use the 3.5mm headphone jack for music and calls. However, the Radio feature is region/market dependent here.
Rest of the specs
Fueling the device is a low-power Li-Po 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Asus claims to fill the juice from 0-70% in just 25 minutes. Likewise, to reach from 0-100%, you will need 80 minutes only. The device also supports reverse charging and the USB Type-C 2.0 here works for USB Power Delivery 3.0 and USB On-The-Go.
The biometrics on the device is handled by an under-display fingerprint sensor. You can also use the software-based face unlock if that is what you prefer. Moreover, the connectivity options here are Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, NavIC), and NFC. In addition, there are sensors like an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass for an even enhanced experience.
