Honor Magic 4 Pro announced on MWC 2022 event

Honor has introduced two new smartphones – Honor Magic 4 and Honor Magic 4 Pro via the MWC 2022 event. Since they are the flagship models, both feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors. Here, we will dig further into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Honor Magic 4 Pro in Nepal.

Honor Magic 4 Pro Overview

Design and Display

The Honor Magic 4 Pro brings us a 6.81-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000nits peak brightness. It also boasts a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut with HDR 10+ contents and a 1920Hz PWM dimming feature. There are one billion colors on the screen alongside 1312×2848-pixels resolution and 460-pixel density.

Around the screen, ultra-narrow bezels are measuring 0.93mm. Likewise, there is a left-aligned pill-shaped cutout above the display. The Pro model also has MEMC and SDR to HDR upscaling which was lacking on the vanilla version.

The body weighs 209 grams and measures 9.1mm in thickness. It is IP68 rated against dust and water resistivity.  The rear panel of the phone has a circular camera cutout which Honor has referred to as the “Eye of Muse”. There are five color options available in the model – Black, White, Cyan, Orange, and Gold.

Performance and Memory

Powering the system is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor based on a 4nm fabrication process. It integrates an octa-core (1×3.00 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3×2.40 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×1.70 GHz Cortex-A510) CPU coupled with Adreno 730 graphics processor. Over to the software front, the phone runs on Android 12 on top of Magic UI 6. You can also see market/region-dependent support for Google Play Services.

You have three different memory configurations for the model – 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB respectively. Unfortunately, you can no longer expand your internal storage since the handset lacks a slot for a microSD card and doesn’t support virtual RAM.

Camera and Audio

Under the hood, there is a quad-camera setup with a 50MP primary lens with 1.0-microns pixel capacity and the support of multi-directional PDAF and Laser AutoFocus. The secondary lens is also a 50MP shooter but falls under the ultrawide category with a 122-degree field of view. Further, there is a 64MP periscope telephoto sensor with PDAF and OIS support added by 3.5x optical zoom. Completing the setup is a TOF 3D sensor for portrait shots. These cameras show features like ultra-fusion photography, AI color, and Movie Master with IMAX Enhanced 10bit 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.

Moving on, there is a 12MP selfie snapper above the display of the handset. It is also accompanied by a 3D depth sensor inside the same pill-shaped cutout. It is also an ultrawide lens with a 100-degree field of view. Both rear and front cameras can record videos up to 4K resolution at the rate of 30 frames per second.

For audio, there is a loudspeaker system with stereo speakers that supports 24-bit audio stereo recording. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack for music and calls.

Rest of the specs

Under the hood, the Honor Magic 4 Pro gets its fuel from a medium Li-Po 4,600mAh battery cell with a 100W SuperCharge wired and wireless charging capability. Honor claims to charge from 0-100% in just 30 minutes with wired fast charging and 0-50% in 15 minutes with wireless. The device can also volunteer for a 5W reverse charging – wired and wireless. The charging is done via a USB Type-C 3.1 port whose adapter and cable ship with the box. The phone has an under-display fingerprint sensor with a software-based face unlock on the side for biometrics.
