Samsung Galaxy M30s Launched in Nepal with 6000 mAh battery and 48MP Triple Camera

After a great success in the previous generation phone in the M-series, Samsung has announced a new device in this M-series lineup, namely Samsung Galaxy M30s and launched on the date 19th September 2019 in Nepal.

Overview

The 6000 mAh battery and 48 MP camera can be the great attraction of this device. Other than this, there is not much upgrade. The phone is consists of glass at the front and plastic on the back, so the device doesn’t feel much premium.

These days, even the budget phones are available with the glass finish. The device weighs 188 gm and 8.9 mm thick. The device is available in 3 colour variation – Opal Black, Sapphire Blue, Pearl White.

At the front, a 6.4 inch super AMOLED touchscreen is provided and with the pixel density ~411 PPI and 20:9 ratio as well. There is a notch at the top of the screen for the selfie camera, and the bottom bezel is also thick, and there is no fingerprint scanner on the screen. Watching videos and playing games on this screen can be pleasing.

At the back, there is a triple camera setup aligned vertically. The triple camera setup consists of a 48 MP sensor (f/2.0, wide), an 8 MP sensor (f/2.2) for ultra-wide and a 5 MP sensor (f/2.2) as a depth sensor. There is a LED flash, and the photos and videos from this camera setup are pretty good. It can take videos up to 2160p @ 30fps.

The Selfie camera has a single 16MP sensor (f/2.0), and it features, Face unlock, HDR support and can take videos up to 1080p @ 30fps.

Samsung Galaxy M30s comes with Android 9.0 (Pie) with One UI as most of the Samsung devices are available, which is easy to use and user-friendly. It has a 10nm chip, namely Exynos 9611, which is a pretty good processor for the budget phone. The handset has Octa-core CPU (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali-G72 MP3. With this SoC, most of the task can be quickly sorted out and gaming experience can also be marvellous.

Samsung Galaxy M30s comes up with 64 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM and with 128 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM. The internal storage can also be expanded using a microSD card. The SIM tray supports dual SIM (both supporting 4G & 3G) with the microSD slot as well.

As already mentioned, the 6000 mAh Li-Po battery can the turning point to buy this device. Samsung Galaxy M30s does support fast charging, and the device comes with a 15W charger with Type-C connection.

For the Bluetooth connection, Bluetooth 5.0 is available. It featured with sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, and compass. Samsung Galaxy M30s supports USB OTG for transfer data to flash drives. Also, 3.5 mm jack at the bottom for audio output but it lacks NFC feature.

At the price range of Rs 27,990 which is 4GB/64GB variant. Similarly, the price of 6GB/128GB M30s is Rs 33,590. The battery with 6000 mAh and 48 MP camera, can be the device you were searching for all these years. On a similar price range, it has to compete with devices like Redmi Note 7, Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, Pocophone F1 and so on.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro announced and available for pre-booking

Huawei has just announced the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, the best one this company has ever produced. It is set to be launched by the company in October this year. But we are not sure whether the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will be available in Nepal around its initial release date or not.

Apple has just announced the new iPhones – the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max. The phones feature the efficient A13 Bionic Chipset, multiple rear cameras, and new retina OLED displays. iPhone 11 in Nepal is set to launch in October.

The three variants of the iPhone apparently differ in their size. But there are other things that are different among these versions, including the display technology, camera setup, storage, battery and of course, the price.

While the iPhone 11 is equipped with Liquid Retina IPS LCD, the Pro, as well as the Pro Max, come with Super Retina XDR OLED. Those OLEDs displays mean that you get more improved colors. The light produced by the phones will be more natural on OLED displays.

The 1792×828 resolution for iPhone 11 gives a 326 pixel-per-inch value while the Pro’s 1242 x 2688 gives a notably more 458 PPI.

But still, that’s not much of a difference to our eyes.

Apple says the Max will give 20 hours of video playback, 12 hours of video streaming and 68 hours of audio playback. The Pro also comes pretty close with 18 hours of video streaming, 11 hours of streaming video and 65 hours of audio playback.

So if you are one of those who needs a longer-lasting battery for gaming purposes and wants to charge less often, then you can go for the Max.

It would be great if Samsung adds DeX feature to its budget segment like Galaxy A series (expect A90 5G) and M series. This feature is still in the development phase and there are lots of things to be improved.

In future, if external monitors could connect wireless, this feature can be more useful & reliable.

Mi A3: Pixel Experience on Budget Segment

As its 3rd generation smartphone on the A-series, Xiaomi is back with its new handset MI A3. For a great android experience in the Chinese brand, MI A3 is the best choice in the budget range phones.

There are lots of changes we can see in this device than in the previous device. There are some upgrades as well as some degrades in this device. Xiaomi does listen to its customer’s voice. It improvised the mistakes done in the MI A2 and now MI A3 is back with the totally new device with a very low price range as usual.

Design

This is a really good looking smartphone with its compact size and small form factor. Also, the color on this device looks really good as it is available in 3 sets of colors, white, grey and blue. The front and back of the device are made out of glass within the aluminum frame.

All the buttons are on the right side so it is easy to get access to those buttons. This time there is a hybrid SIM slot which was missing in the previous phone. The phone is very lightweight as it weighs only 173.8 g. there are curve edges which make easy to hold the device on hand.

Display

For the first time, MI has introduced AMOLED panel in its A-series phone but we are only getting a 720p resolution screen. It is a sad fact that we are only getting a 720p screen but it does have an advantage on battery performance.

The device has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 80.3% screen to body ratio. The screen has a waterdrop notch at the top and a thick chin at the button. It is a 6.01 inches screen with corning gorilla glass 5 protection.

Processor

As already told, this device has pure android in it so the android experience is really great. It comes with Android 9.0(Pie) powered by Android One so that we are always updated with google features. It does use Snapdragon 665 as its main processor.

For a budget range phone, this processor gives out the best output. It does have Octa-core processor (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) and Adreno 610 as GPU. The device is available with 64GB internal & 4GB RAM, 128GBinternal & 4GB RAM, 128GB internal & 6GB RAM. Also, we can extend the storage up to 256GB using the SD card.

Camera

Talking about the camera, it has a triple camera setup at the back. The camera is aligned vertically. There is a 48MP camera sensor (f/1.79) as main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. There is the presence of a flash at the bottom of the camera. It can shoot the videos of 2160p at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60/120 fps

At the front, there is a 32MP AI selfie camera. Xiaomi claims as to the best ever Xiaomi front camera, fully optimized and more capable AI. It does have AI beautify mode, AI portrait mode, palm shutter, and many more features.

Battery

For the gaming experience, it performs not the best but it gets the job done at medium setting. The battery is not removable and has 4030mAh high capacity battery.

It does support fast charging as it comes with 18W quick charging. And it does have a USB to Type-C connector and the device comes up with a bunch of sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass.

Extra

For the connection, it has Bluetooth 5.0 and there is a presence of infrared port. The headphone jack is available on this device. The device does have fingerprint scanner beneath the screen which is not so fast. Moreover, there is a feature to unlock the device with the AI face unlock capability.

The device is launched in India and it has price around INR 12,999 (4GB/64GB); INR 15,999 (6GB/128GB) and sooner it will be launched in Nepal with reasonable price as well. We are expecting this device very soon in Nepal with a sub-30K price tag.

There are a couple of reasons to buy Samsung Galaxy S10 and save your money. With the usage of Samsung Galaxy s10 for more than 4 months, here are my conclusions. The performance of this device is as fast and smooth as it was at the time of buying.

Many people have been complaining about the punch-hole display as it can be a disturbing factor while watching videos. But, in my perspective, it was never a burden. The AMOLED panel with 87.5% screen to body ratio is great for producing accurate colors and contrast. The Gorilla Glass 6 provides the strength to this device. The screen is one of the brightest screen and it was very easy to use the phone on sunny days.
