Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro: will it win the market?

The Chinese model Redmi K40 Pro+ has launched in Nepal as rebranded by Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro. With the recent POCO X3 pro, POCO F3, and Mi 11, the company has also brought in Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and Xiaomi Mi 11X within 3-4 days. The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro price in Nepal is under Rs. 70,000.

Let’s see the general overview of the phone which is considered the best phone under Rs. 70,000.

Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro Overviews:

Design and Display

Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro features a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. This is a downgraded feature from the QHD+ display panel of Mi 11. However, the panel gets an A+ certification of Display Mate and boasts a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.  The peak brightness is 1300nits which is a very good offering. Additionally, the handset can change its color tone per the surrounding lighting.

The model is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and rear sides. The design has 7.8mm thickness and weighs approximately 196gm. Furthermore, it is IP53 water and dust-resistant. The color variants are – Cosmic Black, Lunar White, and Celestial Silver.

Performance and Memory

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8350 888 5G based on a 5nm chipset with 6th gen AI engine. It is the same as the Mi 11 and most of the high-end Android devices from late 2020 and early 2021. Talking about software, it is based on Xiaomi’s own MIUI 12 alongside Android 11 OS.

xiaomi mi 11x pro design

The Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680) CPU works side-by-side with the Adreno 660 graphics processor. The memory has an 8GB RAM option with either 128GB or 256GB internal storage of UFS 3.1. However, it is not expandable because there is no support system for a micoSD card. Besides that, it also flaunts a liquid cooling technology to prevent over-heating.

Camera and Sound

Mi 11X Pro has a triple camera set up on the rear part. The highlight of the setup is a 108MP primary shooter with a 9-in-1 pixel binning tech to produce 2.1µm individual pixels. This was possible with the use of the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor.

xiaomi mi 11x pro camera

To complete the setup, there is an 8MP ultrawide lens with 119˚ viewing capacity ad a 5MP telephoto-macro sensor with f/2.45 aperture. Similarly, this phone has no support for Optical Image Stabilization.

xiaomi mi 11x pro front camera

Upfront, it houses a 20MP selfie camera with an f/2.5 aperture. The video support in the model is excellently crowd-pleasing. The back camera can shoot the video in 8K resolution at 30fps, 4K resolution at 30/60fps, and 1080p resolution at 30/60/120/240/960fps with gyro-EIS and HDR10+. However, the front camera supports 1080p resolution at 30fps and 720p resolution at 120fps.

Talking about the sound system, it has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos feature boasting Hi-Res 24-bit/192kHz audio. Unfortunately, this phone lacks the 3.5mm jack which leaves us with the option of Type-C headphones or wireless ones.

Battery and Extras

Mi 11X Pro is mechanized with a 4,250mAh battery which in my view is a little less since this is a high-end android phone. The handset supports 33W fast charging, Quick Charge 3+, and Power Delivery 3.0 protocol.

xiaomi mi 11x pro power and volume button

For biometrics, there is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock system. Moving on to connectivity, the phone has support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and an Infrared blaster. The sensor, has an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum, and barometer.

The color variations are Peach Pink, Bubblegum Blue, and Boba Black.

CG started the internet service: Will it be the ultimate choice?

Chaudhary Group has finally started an internet service of its own from June 1st. Above all, this is by far the cheapest internet facility available in the Nepali market. In a word, CG NET internet service is providing 120mbps speedy internet at just Rs. 999.

On the contrary, the general public expects higher speed and a unique experience from the internet service provided by the company. The service was officially licensed earlier as a Network Service Provider and Internet Service Provider on 16th March 2021 by Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA).

cgnet introductory offers
CG NET INTRODUCTORY OFFERS

Meanwhile, the CG company has promised a very smooth and fast internet service starting today. After that, we can get both business and personal range of internet service with them. Likewise, there is a chance that the brand starts IPTV soon since it has been providing the new-generation tech in the Nepali market for a long time.

Compared to the Vianet and Classic-tech who had 100 Mbps internet plan, this new service provides the highest bandwidth.

Where can we get the CG NET internet service?

To illustrate the facility, the internet service is now available in Jaulakhel, Jhamsikhel, Vanimandal, and Ekantakuna. In contrast, it is expected to spread to all 76 districts. However, the service center is established in Jaulakhel, Kumaripati, Kirtipur, Naya Bazar, Minbhawan, and Trade Tower Thapathali.

All things considered, the service will be available to the three districts inside the valley. Unquestionably, they are Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. Henceforth, other places will receive the facility within two or three fiscal years.

Furthermore, the service is fast and reliable which is supposed to cover more than 70% of the total ISP market.

We can contact the following if you want the service in the area.

Address: Trade Tower Business Centre, Thapathali, Kathmandu

Phone no.: +977-1-5111033

Email: customercare@cgnet.com.np

CG NET Internet Subscription Plans

Not to mention, we can get a free router and installation service if we subscribe to a yearly package. Similarly, there is a monthly subscription, quarterly subscription, and bi-annual subscription package. Meanwhile, for these packages, the cable and installation service is free of cost.

Subsequently, this is the detailed pricing of the pans available by the brand.

Plan:PriceInstallation ChargeSingle-Band RouterDual-Band RouterCableRefundable Amount

However, these plans do not cover the 13% VAT.

Fair Usage Policy (FUP)

The internet is without a doubt essential in today’s daily life. Like other internet service providers, this one also implements the Fair Usage Policy (FUP). Hence, allows the limitation on the internet speed on unlimited plans. Consequently, this avoids people to misuse the bandwidth.

On condition that the CG NET Internet Service, the usage level will reset every month, restoring the internet service. In short, the overall experience will be delightful.

FUP LevelData Usage QuotaFUP Speed Policy
Original Data BandwidthUp to 1900 GB120Mbps (original speed)
Level 11900 – 2000 GB50% of original speed
Level 22000 – 2100 GB30% of original speed
Level 3Upwards of 2100 GB10% of original speed

To rephrase it, the FUP monitors all of the usage of our data. This generally checks if someone is exceeding the bandwidth limit they are previously given access to.

The On-going Controversy

On the whole, the motto of the brand says “Speed Matters“. And in any event, it is the spoken fact. Meanwhile, the NTA is having some problems with the license to enter the CG into the ISP market. For instance, they are demanding Rs. 20 billion only in advance. However, CG is trying to pay the amount in the coming future in installment but there have been some controversies.

Despite, the problematic situations, CG has finally started its journey as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and we are really very excited to see where it leads the Nepali ISP market.

Moreover, even some of the NTA employees believe this step would bring revolutionary competition to the ISP market. Indeed, this is a first strike on the Nepali ISP market for a speedy and good experience.

Conclusion

To sum up, the CG company has issued pretty big power words regarding the service. Therefore, the general people are really looking forward to using the facility. On one hand, we are getting the cheapest service ever and on the other hand, the service is supposedly speedy giving us a great experience.

We can undeniably say that this is the most awaited ISP in the Nepali market. Besides, it has promised fast service in a very low amount. Shortly, we all know “The faster, The better”.

How to transfer balance in NTC: getting your long-lost security code!!

Nepal Telecom (नेपाल दूरसञ्चार कम्पनी लिमिटेड) is a national network system used by more than 60% of the total population of Nepal. Most of them are a user of prepaid SIM which provides a balance transfer service within its network. So, let’s check out if you can transfer the balance in the NTC network.

Many people using the service are unaware of how to transfer balance within the network. Here, we will teach you how to transfer it directly with just your security code and also the easy way to use the official NTC app for the service. Remember: The transfer limit is 5 times a day.

How to get your security code?

As some of you know we can visit the NTC office which is placed in 184 different locations across the country. They provide you with a security code which was also provided at the time of SIM purchase but was somehow lost. But since people have a busy schedule nowadays and the whole world is getting digitalized, the service provider has made the job easy for us.

Nowadays, if you want the security code you can just follow this process:

  1. Open the messaging app in your phone.
  2. Type scode as content
  3. Send it to 1415
  4. Wait for the reply

That’s right!!! Follow these simple steps and you will get your security code right away in under 5 minutes. Sometimes, there might be an exception when you don’t get the code within 5 minutes. In that case, you can contact the NTC office or if possible, visit the office. They will definitely ask you for identification but, they provide you your Security Code after you are verified.

Note: Your Security Code always has 8 digits.

How to transfer balance using security code?

After you know your security code, follow these steps for a successful NTC balance transfer.

  1. Open the call-dialing keypad in your phone
  2. Type *422*
  3. Enter the security code
  4. Type *
  5. Now, enter the number to which you want to make your transfer
  6. Type * again
  7. Enter the amount you want to transfer
  8. Type #
  9. Now, press the call button

Congratulations!! You have successfully transferred the balance.

Furthermore, if anyone is still confused about the steps and format, it looks like this – *422*Security Code*Destined Number*required amount#.

Example: Your security code is 12345678 and you need to transfer Rs. 20 to a person with a phone number 9860000000. Now your screen should have: –

*422*12345678*9860000000*20#

Finally, for the curious minds out there, the format can be broken down as: –

  1. 422 for a standard USSD code for a balance transfer
  2. 12345678 as a security code
  3. 9860000000 as a destined prepaid NTC number expecting balance
  4. 20 as the amount you want to transfer

Balance Transfer via the NTC app

However, if you don’t want to get through the trouble of getting a security code and remembering it, then there is also an easy way to transfer the balance. The NTC app is easily available on both Playstore and Appstore. We can download it and follow the simple steps:

  1. Open the NTC app
  2. Click the Red Button that says Transfer Balance

So, unless you want to pay for the Google One Subscription, you can always look for an alternative. There are some great Google Photos alternatives in Nepal that can be used in the future if required.

Top 10 Google Photos Alternatives you can take a look at:

Conclusion:

With Google standing on our neck with Google Photos monetization, we should surely start looking for all the alternatives possible. The digital world is changing and we need to update accordingly. So, unless you are sure you won’t exceed the 15GB limits on Google Photos, you can look out for the above alternatives.

Google Photos ending the free storage policy from June 1: Will we be paying to back up our memories?

Google Photos is ending free storage service and will soon start charging for storage of more than 15GB from June 1st, 2021.

After offering nearly five years of unlimited photo storage, the brand has finally decided to monetize the app. We barely have 4-5 days to use the free version of almost everyone’s favorite photos and videos backup space.

If you have used more than 15 gigs or have been uploading pictures in high-quality, then you are almost certain to have to buy a Google One Subscription for further use. However, all existing content will remain unaffected and exempt from the storage limit.

This change is going to unveil itself with other Google Drive Policy changes. For example, deleting data from inactive accounts that haven’t been used for at least two years. Google is also counting Google Workspace documents and spreadsheets from the new update.

The new Google Photos will have a “Review and delete” option. This will allow you to revise the large-sized files, blurry pictures, and screenshots. The reviewed or deleted photo with count towards Google Account Storage. However, existing ‘High-quality’ photos and videos are exempt from storage confinement.

The changes should have been expected but we were so busy enjoying the space, no one thought about what if….?  But now when Google Photos is ending free storage policy, it’s time to finally think about it and look out for alternatives. Because memories should stay, forever and after.

If your storage limit exceeds 15GB, you can subscribe to Google One’s plan of 100GB, 200GB, and 2TB for $1.99, $2.99, and $9.99 per month. Similarly, a yearly plan comes at $19.99, $29.99, and $99.99 respectively.

The subscription comes with some added features like we can get 3% back in the Google Store alongside VPN for Android phones.

Good news!?

The silver lining of the news is that the storage will still be unlimited for Google Pixel 5 or earlier Pixel phones. This means the new storage limit won’t affect Pixel phone users and will continue receiving unlimited free storage options.
