The world’s largest smartphone manufacturer Samsung is back with a handset namely Samsung Galaxy A10s with a low price range offering great battery backup and latest software experience. Not everyone needs a powerful device. Sometimes an average performing low price device can be the one for some peoples.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A10s on the Galaxy A line of smartphones on 23rd September 2019 in Nepal. Galaxy A10s has an affordable price tag of Rs 16,790, which is available in 3 attractive colours Blue, Green and Black. Considering the needs of today’s generation Samsung has designed Galaxy A10s.

Overview

Samsung Galaxy A10s has a plastic body so there might be a big question regarding the durability of the device. It weighs around 168gm and has the dimension 156.9*75.8*7.8mm. On the right side, there is a physical power button and on the left side, there are volume rockers. SIM slot supports dual SIMs as well as an SD card reader for external storage.

Top of the device has a microphone and the bottom has speaker grill, a 3.5mm jack along with a micro USB port. At the back, there are two cameras aligned vertically with a physical fingerprint scanner, which is supposed to be accurate most of the time and gives a new way of unlocking the device.

And for the GPU, PowerVR GE8320 has been provided, which is capable of handling the tasks easily and also can handle light games. The processor comes with enhanced security features.

Memory and Storage

The phone comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal and can be increased using a dedicated slot. Even though the RAM doesn’t seem enough, Samsung Galaxy A10s doesn’t come with unnecessary pre-installed applications. So the performance on the device is smooth

One of the interesting features of this device is that it has a huge battery i.e. 4000 mAh. It is a non-removable Li-Po battery which can last long with normal usage. The phone is useful for both work and leisure, the powerful battery allows uninterrupted streaming, gaming, live broadcasting and more.

Conclusion

Even at this low price range, it is surprising that Samsung offers Bluetooth 5.0 which has a wide range and good connectivity, sensors like (accelerometer, proximity) and a good Wi-Fi card. Also, Samsung Galaxy A10s has active noise cancellation with dedicated mic.

This time Samsung has done a great job for providing a budget-friendly device with exciting features.

Recently, Vivo launched a new smartphone named Vivo Nex 3 with 5G connectivity. It was launched in September 2019. It is yet to be launched in Nepal.

Vivo is one of the innovative smartphone manufacturers in China owned by BBK electronics. When it comes to great camera quality and innovative technology, Vivo is one of the emerging company.

Vivo Nex 3 is a flagship device from the company with an attractive design. For edgy screen, Vivo removed all the physical buttons. As a replacement, Vivo has brought virtual buttons named Touch Sense, which simulates the real touch of the buttons and delivers more comfortable vibration.

Now, one has to apply some sort of pressure on the sensors to control the volume and to access power buttons.

Display and Design

Vivo Nex 3 features phablet size 6.89 inches capacitive touchscreen display with a 93.6% screen-to-body ratio. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2256 pixels giving a 363 PPI density. The phone’s back is glass while the display is notch-less, giving a premium feel while holding in your palm. As the software, this device is based on the Funtouch OS. Vivo claims the software is customizable with exquisite simplicity. Funtouch OS also offers dark mode, smart launcher, smart scan, and suitable for handling games.

Vivo Nex 3 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 plus octa-core processor and Adreno 640 for GPU, which can all kinds of heavy tasks easily and is power efficient as well. The Snapdragon 855+ is more powerful than Snapdragon 855, as Snapdragon 855+ is capable of better performance, handling games, AI, VR, and AR performance. For cooling, the phone has been provided with Vapor Chamber Cooling System.

At the back of the device, there is triple camera setup as the main camera with a 64 MP wide sensor (f/1.8), a 13 MP sensor (f/2.5) for telephoto and a 13 MP sensor, (f/2.2) for ultra-wide photos and videos. This camera setup features LED flash, HDR and panorama. It can take videos of 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@960fps and for the stabilization gyro-EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).

Vivo has always been boasting it’s devices’ camera spec. Be it V15 Pro or Vivo Z3, we have seen the company put some hard work into its camera to topple all the competitors. And yet again, they have brought a new device with unprecedented camera features, the Vivo V17 Pro.

The Vivo V17 Pro has recently been launched smartphone from the Chinese firm Vivo. It features a 6.44-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It has Android 9.0 OS installed in it with 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

Talking about its most interesting feature, this phone boasts a quad-camera setup at the back while a pair of lens on the pop-up at its front. The dual-lens pop-up is totally new the phone industry has not seen before.

The difference more significant than pixel density is their display type. The OLED in Mate Pro will give more natural and improved colors.

Hardware and Performance

Mate 30 Pro is clearly the winner here. It even overpowers iPhone’s latest editions in multiple areas in terms of performance. Mate 30 is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 990, a killer CPU. Note 10 Plus’ Exynos 9825 is also near the Kirin but won’t be able to reach its exact standards.

Both have similar GPU specs, under the Mali-G76.

In this field, Mate comes a mile on top. Even though pixels aren’t the only thing to decide better camera, Mate’s Supersensing and TOF cameras with massive 40 megapixels are outstanding to hear.

Note 10 Plus has a pair of 12 MP camera and one 16 MP at the back. Mate’s quad-camera setup has 3x optical zoom compared to 2x of the Note.

Software

One area, which is also one of the most significant for the device that Mate Pro is behind is its software. It won’t have any Google services. So No play store, no Play services.

After a great success in the previous generation phone in the M-series, Samsung has announced a new device in this M-series lineup, namely Samsung Galaxy M30s and launched on the date 19th September 2019 in Nepal.

Overview

The 6000 mAh battery and 48 MP camera can be the great attraction of this device. Other than this, there is not much upgrade. The phone is consists of glass at the front and plastic on the back, so the device doesn’t feel much premium.

These days, even the budget phones are available with the glass finish. The device weighs 188 gm and 8.9 mm thick. The device is available in 3 colour variation – Opal Black, Sapphire Blue, Pearl White.

At the front, a 6.4 inch super AMOLED touchscreen is provided and with the pixel density ~411 PPI and 20:9 ratio as well. There will be two variants in case of Memory. The base variant will get 128GB storage, 8GB RAM while the higher model will get 256GB storage and 8GB RAM.

The card slot is available to extend the storage up to extra 256 GB.

Apple has just announced the new iPhones – the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max. The phones feature the efficient A13 Bionic Chipset, multiple rear cameras, and new retina OLED displays. iPhone 11 in Nepal is set to launch in October.

Overview

The three variants of the iPhone apparently differ in their size. But there are other things that are different among these versions, including the display technology, camera setup, storage, battery and of course, the price.

How do the three variants of newly launched iPhone 11 differ?

The successor to iPhone XR, iPhone 11 starts around the price of $699. While its bigger brothers, the iPhone 11 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 11 Max at $1099.

The clear difference between these iPhone and its two brothers is the display technology. While the iPhone 11 is equipped with Liquid Retina IPS LCD, the Pro, as well as the Pro Max, come with Super Retina XDR OLED. Those OLEDs displays mean that you get more improved colors. The light produced by the phones will be more natural on OLED displays.

The 1792×828 resolution for iPhone 11 gives a 326 pixel-per-inch value while the Pro’s 1242 x 2688 gives a notably more 458 PPI.

But still, that’s not much of a difference to our eyes.

All three phones are powered with the A13 Bionic processor along with 4 GB ram. Also, it brings a vast improvement in the performance as well as battery life. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max all start with 64 GB storage. But the massive 512 GB is only available for the latter two. iPhone 11 is limited to 256 GB, but that pretty much too

The Pro and Pro Max feature a triple-camera system that includes a telephoto camera. It provides improvement for long-focus shooting and is great for low-light photography. While the iPhone 11 just has 2 cameras.

Talking of battery, you’ll get stellar battery power the  Pro Max compared to iPhone 11 and the Pro. iPhone 11 Pro Max has a massive Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery that will last 5 hours longer than iPhone XS Max.

Apple says the Max will give 20 hours of video playback, 12 hours of video streaming and 68 hours of audio playback. The Pro also comes pretty close with 18 hours of video streaming, 11 hours of streaming video and 65 hours of audio playback.

So if you are one of those who needs a longer-lasting battery for gaming purposes and wants to charge less often, then you can go for the Max.

It would be great if Samsung adds DeX feature to its budget segment like Galaxy A series (expect A90 5G) and M series. This feature is still in the development phase and there are lots of things to be improved.

As its 3rd generation smartphone on the A-series, Xiaomi is back with its new handset MI A3. For a great android experience in the Chinese brand, MI A3 is the best choice in the budget range phones.

There are lots of changes we can see in this device than in the previous device. There are some upgrades as well as some degrades in this device. Xiaomi does listen to its customer’s voice. It improvised the mistakes done in the MI A2 and now MI A3 is back with the totally new device with a very low price range as usual.

Design

This is a really good looking smartphone with its compact size and small form factor. Also, the color on this device looks really good as it is available in 3 sets of colors, white, grey and blue. The front and back of the device are made out of glass within the aluminum frame.

All the buttons are on the right side so it is easy to get access to those buttons. This time there is a hybrid SIM slot which was missing in the previous phone. The phone is very lightweight as it weighs only 173.8 g. there are curve edges which make easy to hold the device on hand.

Display

For the first time, MI has introduced AMOLED panel in its A-series phone but we are only getting a 720p resolution screen. It is a sad fact that we are only getting a 720p screen but it does have an advantage on battery performance.

The device has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 80.3% screen to body ratio. The screen has a waterdrop notch at the top and a thick chin at the button. It is a 6.01 inches screen with corning gorilla glass 5 protection.

Processor

As already told, this device has pure android in it so the android experience is really great. It comes with Android 9.0(Pie) powered by Android One so that we are always updated with google features. It does use Snapdragon 665 as its main processor.

For a budget range phone, this processor gives out the best output. It does have Octa-core processor (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) and Adreno 610 as GPU. The device is available with 64GB internal & 4GB RAM, 128GBinternal & 4GB RAM, 128GB internal & 6GB RAM. Also, we can extend the storage up to 256GB using the SD card.

Camera

Talking about the camera, it has a triple camera setup at the back. The camera is aligned vertically. There is a 48MP camera sensor (f/1.79) as main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. There is the presence of a flash at the bottom of the camera. It can shoot the videos of 2160p at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60/120 fps

At the front, there is a 32MP AI selfie camera. Xiaomi claims as to the best ever Xiaomi front camera, fully optimized and more capable AI. It does have AI beautify mode, AI portrait mode, palm shutter, and many more features.

Battery

For the gaming experience, it performs not the best but it gets the job done at medium setting. The battery is not removable and has 4030mAh high capacity battery.

It does support fast charging as it comes with 18W quick charging. And it does have a USB to Type-C connector and the device comes up with a bunch of sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass.

Extra

For the connection, it has Bluetooth 5.0 and there is a presence of infrared port. The headphone jack is available on this device. The device does have fingerprint scanner beneath the screen which is not so fast. Moreover, there is a feature to unlock the device with the AI face unlock capability.

The device is launched in India and it has price around INR 12,999 (4GB/64GB); INR 15,999 (6GB/128GB) and sooner it will be launched in Nepal with reasonable price as well. We are expecting this device very soon in Nepal with a sub-30K price tag.
