Sony a7 IV camera starts pre-order in Nepal

Sony announced the Alpha (a7) IV camera in the global market a few months back. It has now entered the Nepali market as well. This is the latest full-frame mirrorless camera in the Alpha lineup from the brand. It succeeds the Sony a7 III from 2018. In this post, we will dig into the specs, features, availability, and the official price of the Sony a7 IV in Nepal.

Sony a7 IV Overview

Design

Starting with the design, Sony a7 IV resembles a7s III in many ways. The body is magnesium alloy built with recycled plastic. This is the first Sony Alpha Camera with a dual-layer mode dial. There is a second dial lying below the main dial. It allows us to switch between slow, quick, video, and still.

There is a 3-inch fully articulating LCD monitor featuring more than 1.3 million dots. Further, it has an OLED electronic viewfinder with 1.6x the resolution of its a7 III. In addition, there is a new 33MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor for imaging. You can expand its ISO sensitivity up to 50-204,800.

Image Processing

The new sensor in a7 IV is combined with the BIONX XR image processor, which was previously found on the Sony Alpha 1. This allows the camera to shoot continuously at up to 10fps using AF / AE tracking. A total of 759 phase-difference AF frames cover 94% of the image area. According to Sony, Real-Time Eye AF can now track birds and animals in both still images and video. In addition, human face and eye recognition are 30% more accurate.

For video, the a7 IV can shoot up to 4k 60 frames per second in Super 35mm mode. You can also record 4k 30fps video using 7K oversampling in full-screen mode. Likewise, this camera also supports 10-bit 4: 2: 2 color sampling and intra-frame recording in XAVS SI, which was not available on its previous lineups. It also brings on the SCinetone image profile from Sony’s CinemaLine camera.

Wheels and Dials

The Sony a7 IV has excellent built quality with easy wheels and dials. It gives a good grip which is a comfortable and notable feature in cameras these days. It is also lighter which adds to the good things. You can get both front and rear control dials in the camera. The front control dial lies at the top of the handgrip which makes it easy to use them while the rear dial has been moved on the top part similar to that of A1. The latter is very easily operable and distinctly placed since it was designed for our convenience. Further, there is a third control dial integrating lock mechanism but having the primary function of exposure compensation control.

Previously, there was a name – “Rear Dial R” or “Rear Dial L” which had exposure compensation markings on it but this time it is blank and lies within the menu. It can also be reassigned to many other functions. Likewise, you can customize the top-deck rear dials and control wheel on the back, all according to yourself. The other PASM mode dial of the device remains the same as the Sony a7 III though. But, there is a new shooting mode beneath the Dial. You can control between Photo mode, Movie mode, and S&Q (Slow & Quick) mode. This avoids the accidental primary shoot mode changes.

Side Ports and Memory Card Door

The device sports a good combination of wired and wireless connectivity options. There is a full-size HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jacks, two different types of USB connectors, one micro USB connector, one USB Type-C port which is upgraded to a USB 3.2 Gen2 port. This offers you 10Gbps of data alongside Power Delivery. Moreover, it also supports 1000BAST-T Ethernet connection for fast FTP data transfers which helps with the live streaming function.

Moving on, for memory cards, there is a dual setup that supports two UHS-II SD cards. The top slot also supports CFexpress Type A memory cards which is much faster than the others.

As we know, iQOO is a sub-brand of Vivo and it has finally unveiled its flagship phones. There are iQOO 9, 9 Pro, and the Legend Editions of these models. The phones have made their way to the Indian market. Here, we will look at the specs, features, availability, and the expected price of the iQOO 9 & 9 Pro in Nepal.

The new iQOO 9 & 9 Pro flaunts a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED screen with curved edges around the display. Because of the LTPO panel, you can have a flexible refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. As per memory, there are three different configurations in the 9 Pro – 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB of UFS 3.1. In 9, the 12/512GB is replaced by 8/128GB. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot to extend the internal storage. Under the hood, there is a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary lens which uses Samsung’s GN5 with a 1/1.57-inch sensor size. The lens supports PDAF and gimbals OIS. It also has a 50MP ultrawide sensor with a 150-degree field of view. This means it is in together with Realme GT 2 Pro in camera perspective. Completing the setup is a 16MP telephoto portrait lens that has 2.5x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Further, there is a micro-head gimbal system by Vivo for stabilization.

Similarly, there are dual-speakers for audio that emits 32-bit/384kHz audio. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack for music and calls.

Fueling the device is a medium 4,700mAh dual-cell battery with 120W FlashCharge technology. According to the brand, it only takes 13 minutes to charge fully from 0 to 100%. The Honor 50 Lite flaunts a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080×2376-pixel resolution. Above the screen lies a pill-shaped camera cutout that holds the front-facing camera. As we expected from a Vivo V-series smartphone, the new Vivo V23e 5G also leads with its look and feel above every other specification. The model weighs 172 grams and embeds the dimension of 160.9×74.3×7.4mm. There are two color variations available – Sunshine Coast and Moonlight Shadow.

Performance and Memory

Powering the device is MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G based on a 6nm fabrication process. It integrates an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at the speed of 2.4GHz and 2.0GHz respectively. Likewise, the graphics depart is handled by Arm’s Mali-G57 MC2 processor.

As per memory, there is a single configuration of 8GB RAM coupled with 128GB internal storage. It also supports a microSD card but shares the slot with a SIM card insertion place. On the software front, there is Android 11 running on top of Funtouch 12.

Camera and Audio

Under the hood, there is a triple camera setup on the back of Vivo V23e 5G. There lies a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture that also supports Eye Autofocus (Eye AF). Others are an 8MP ultrawide lens of a 120-degree field of view and a 2MP sensor for macro shots. They can record up to 4K videos at the rate of 30 frames per second.

Upfront, there is a 44MP selfie snapper lying inside the waterdrop notch above the screen we mentioned earlier. It also has Eye AF support like the rear camera. The phone also has a Dual Display Video feature meaning we can use front and rear cameras side-by-side. For audio, there is a loudspeaker system that tunes out 24-bit/192kHz audio. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack for music and calls.

Rest of the specs

Fueling the device is a medium 4,050mAh battery cell with 44W fast charging support. For biometrics, there is a software-based face unlock and a fingerprint scanner underneath the screen. Moreover, there is a hybrid SIM slot, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity.

Nepal Traffic Police can now track down fake license cards via a new mobile app

Nepal’s Government has a rule that new license holders must go through one year of probation. It was effective from June 2021 and the license holders would get a different card. And now, Nepal Traffic Police has introduced a verification mobile app to authenticate such license cards. It will work via the QR codes on the card.

License Verification Mobile App

Nepal Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has already received the license verification app. The Director-General of the Department of Traffic Management, Namaraj Ghimire presented the finished mobile application to Mr. Umesh Raj Joshi, Senior Superintendent of Police and Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division.

The app initially started because of all the fake probationary license cards on the market. But, now with the app, the QR code on the license card will be scanned. Traffic Police will now know if the card is a real one. Not only that but traffic can see the complete details of license and license holder. This will also prevent riders to use counterfeit cards. This is the first time Nepal has implemented such a mechanism to verify the license right on spot. Earlier, Traffic Police had to contact the respective Transport Management office for individual verification.

We can only hope that this new license verification application will help punish many of the traffic offenders which will ultimately lead us to a better traffic management system. This might even lower the accidents since such unauthorized drivers would not be on road.

Present provision for the probationary license card

The new riders need to go through a year of probation as instructed by Government. They receive the actual license only after a year. During this time, Government reviews their road behavior. The probationary license card holds a QR code with all the details and behavior tracking. The rider will be given five chances and if he exceeds the chances by violating the traffic rules, he/she will have to go through the license exam again. Not only that but there is a provision to revoke the license if required. Not to forget, the new license verification mobile app will help to streamline the above-mentioned process.

Document Tracking System (DTS)

Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has also unveiled Document Tracking System. This means the riders whose documents get confiscated by the Traffic Division for a traffic rule violation can track down their own documents.
